When you’re on the journey to living a more sustainable lifestyle, there are many parts of your everyday routine that you can change in order to be more mindful of the environment. It is very easy to make your beauty routine more sustainable… and here is how!

Ditch Single Use Cosmetics

Single-use cosmetics are products that are disposable and intended to be used only once before you throw it away. Single-use products generate quite a bit of waste, so using products that are reusable is a great way to lessen the waste you generate during your beauty routine.
For example, if you are still using single-use makeup wipes and cotton pads, now might be the time to change that. There are many alternatives to single-use products - consider using micellar water and a cloth instead of makeup wipes, or you can purchase balms and creams that dissolve makeup off of your face!

Creating Less Waste

On the topic of generating less waste, ditching single-use cosmetics is only one of many ways you can lessen your impact on the environment! Here are some more examples:

  • When you love a product, make sure you use the whole thing before you throw it away. This ensures you get the most life possible out of the product before it goes to the landfill
  • When purchasing a new product, consider investing in high quality materials so that you can get the most life possible out of your new product.
  • For a more sustainable skin-care routine, make sure you only let the water run when you absolutely need it!

Sustainable Materials

When searching for new products, take into consideration the materials it is made of. If the material is sustainable, it means that it comes from a renewable source and/or it won’t harm the environment when you throw it away.

If you’re looking for metal products and tools, look for stainless steel. ArteStile beauty tools are made of stainless steel, which is fully recyclable. If a product is typically made of plastic, you can try looking for bamboo products instead - like toothbrushes and hairbrushes!

TLC for Your Tools

When you purchase a product, take care of it. Taking the proper steps to care for your tools will ensure they last as long as possible. Your tools are there for you when you need them, so show them some gratitude by taking care of them. If you want a head-start, check out our post on disinfecting tweezers.
