It was only a matter of time, with 90’s trends dominating fashion, hair, beauty and TikTok, that we would make our way full circle from full & fluffy to skinny and not a hair out of place eyebrows.
As Seen On: Lily James as Pamela Anderson in the new Pam & Tommy Hulu series, Bella Hadid, Alexa Demie (Euphoria), Lila Moss, and pretty much everyone on TikTok thanks to the trending “90s brow” filter.
On TikTok, #thineyebrows has 22.5 million views and #90sbrow has 1.3 million views. Partnered with warnings from victims of the 90’s “comma brows” not to over-pluck your brows, the hashtag also contains tips on how to temporarily recreate the 90s look using concealer and brow-spo pics of Bella Hadid:

The return of the 90s brow was inevitable with bold brows surpassing their 10 year run. Do you remember how unsure we were at first when model/actress Cara Delevingne stepped into the scene in 2011 with her naturally thick brows? Which eventually lead to the dreaded over filled pomade brow era of 2014-2016.

As a brow artist who has taken clients throughout the last “big brow” decade, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about the skinny brow resurrection. The literal 90s brows were pretty traumatizing, especially for those who have been in eyebrow rehab or are undergoing microblading treatments because of it to this very day. But the new fresh take on thinner brows is pretty refreshing.
Playing up your natural features is always the best way to go because that will never go out of style. So if you have the hairs to support a fluffy gel styled brow - go for it, and if you have smaller facial features and thinner brows - embrace them! The skinny brow’s new popularity is also part of the aspirational “clean girl aesthetic” all over TikTok – think slicked-back hair, dewy skin, minimal makeup, outfits perfectly in place to mirror a neat and tidy lifestyle.
The modern take on the 90s brow is slightly less sparse, and shaped with balance and purpose.
